Surrounding local area

Voted ‘England’s Favourite Village’ 2006 by Country Life magazine Kingham is a beautifully unspoilt Cotswold village. The quintessential cottages with wonky gables and thatched roofs, large green, village shop and most importantly two popular pubs (The Plough and The Wild Rabbit) and The Mill House Hotel where you can enjoy afternoon tea all add to the appeal of this Cotswold village. The popular Daylesford Organic Farmshop is also nearby.

Ideally located for exploring the Cotswold attractions of Sudeley Castle, Blenheim Palace (birthplace if Sir Winston Churchill), The Royal Shakespeare Company in picturesque Stratford Upon Avon, the picturesque Slaughters, several National Trust properties and Bourton-on-the- Water where you'll find Birdland, The Model Railway and the Cotswold Motor Museum.

Guest reviews

Well, we have been visiting The Old Smithy since 2014 so that’s how much we love it here!
So warm and comfortable, very well equipped, such a pretty setting, great walks in every direction,
super bed and shower, easy to rest and relax here.

This is a beautiful cosy cottage in a great location. It had everything we needed and is done out to a
high standard. We had brilliant weather, we completed a number of local walks and visited
numerous locations taking in the beautiful villages and countryside.
Would fully recommend this to friends and family.

Beautiful cottage in an idyllic location. We booked a few days as a “wintry retreat” but topped it all
by getting engaged. It has been perfect.

What a delightful, warm welcoming little cottage. Loved it here, and supper at The Plough was
delightful. My only regret is that I was showing at The Cotswold Fair at Daylesford and that we
didn’t come for longer and so have time to go for walks and explore.
So we’d love to come back some time. Thank You

What a fabulous place to stay, ideal for a couple and dog. A great base for exploring the surrounding
area, lots to see and do. Bibury was my favourite, a must see.

Fantastic week, visited Stow-on- the-Wold, Bourton-on- the-Water and The Slaughters. Cotswolds
are amazing, such stunning villages.
The Old Smithy is wonderful so well equipped. Been nice to chill out. Recommend The Plough for
good food.

The Old Smithy is our idea of a perfect Cotswolds cottage, in a lovely Cotswold village. The cottage is
very comfy, great shower (always good). We love to cook and found the kitchen ideal for self-
catering. Treated ourselves to some Daylesford goodies. Lovely walk to the farm on a sunny Sunday
morning via the bridleway. Enjoyed a day out on the GWR steam railway from Toddington to
Cheltenham. Also visited Blenheim Palace at Woodstock, and the Rococco Garden at Painswick.
Made a trip to Chipping Camden and had a lovely afternoon tea at The Cotswolds House Hotel and
Spa. A very relaxing week in one of our favourite parts of the country, we have felt very much at
