Guest reviews

My husband and I spent 2 weeks at Carter’s Cottage in August/September. Since this was our third stay in Stow we knew the area well so it was easy for us to choose a cottage location. On our 2 previous trips we had a car but were no longer willing to drive in England so needed a village with some bus service and accessibility to the train (Moreton-in-Marsh). We love Stow as you can walk in any direction (with the help of a good map) and find yourself in a village with a pub for lunch. One day we took a bus trip to Chipping Campden to see more of the countryside. The cottage is located on a quiet lane about a 5-minute walk to the center of the square. There are 3 take-out restaurants (fish and chips, Indian and Chinese) located on Park Street a short walk from the cottage. We prefer a traditional British pub instead of those made into gourmet restaurants so went to the Queen’s Head quite often. Lucy’s Tearoom was on the cottage’s recommendation list and it was very good. We also had a nice, reasonably priced full English breakfast at Treebus one morning. The garden of the cottage is lovely and private. The eat-in kitchen is well-equipped and comfortable. We never did figure out how to operate the oven so used the microwave a lot. It was a nice bonus to have Sky TV so we could watch various British shows that we don’t get in the states. The washer/dryer combination worked well. The bedrooms were separated from each other on the upper level so nice for privacy. My husband would have preferred a harder mattress but I found it perfect. The family bath was great with a nice shower and good water pressure. It was great to have a half bath on the main level. We will definitely choose Carter’s Cottage for our next visit to Stow-on-the-Wold.

Great base for getting around the Cotswolds. House was well equipped and it was great that it had free wifi. Would definitely stay here again.

I stayed at the cottage with my husband and 2 daughters (6 & 4). The cottage was absolutely perfect for what we needed. We stayed for 4 nights and ate in for 3 of them and had everything we needed to do this. The cottage is in a perfect location that you can walk to anything in the village and a Tesco is just up the road if you need anything. Everything worked in the cottage and the fireplace was put to good use. I would highly recommend staying here.

Very nice, small house to stay and explore the Northern part of the Cotswolds. Quire a few highlights close to Stow. The house itself is well maintained and equipped, grocery and village centre in walking distance. We have really enjoyed that week and do recommend the house.

We stayed at Carter's Cottage for a week using it as our base for touring the Cotswolds. What a perfect place. The location is fantastic - one street off the main square - within walking distance to restaurants, tea rooms and shops but not on a busy or loud street. The cottage was ideal. Sharif provided us with all the necessary information and treats were left for us. We felt very welcomed and would recommend Carter's Cottage without hesitation! It exceeded our expectations!

We (me and my husband, plus my sister visiting from abroad) thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Carters Cottage. It was a great space - a good sized kitchen with large table to eat around; a living room with comfy sofas and armchair; downstairs loo and boot room (which was really warm and extremely helpful for storing our damp coats and brollies!). Upstairs the bathroom had a really good shower as well as a bath, and the two bedrooms were just lovely. The cottage is clearly well cared for, and was a very welcoming place to be (there was even wine and a cake when we arrived!). It was a fantastic base for our short break. We had a good look around Stow, and there are really good walks to other pretty villages nearby. We all agreed that we'd be happy to stay here again.
