Surrounding local area

Combine a leisurely ramble of the surrounding area with a history lesson exploring the origins of the wool trade in neighbouring Bisely and the less well-known Cotswold silk trade in the villages of Oakridge and Chalford.
Stately home lovers will enjoy exploring several fine sites in the area including Woodchester Mansion, Rodmarton Manor, Sudelely Castle and Painswick Rococo Gardens.
As well as being a significantly wealthy wool town, Cirencester is well known for its Roman heritage and The Corinium Museum is worth a visit and could be combined with a tour of Chedowrth Roman Villa.
There’s plenty of appeal for sports enthusiasts too with polo at Cirencester, racing at Cheltenham, watersports at The Cotswold water Park and golf at Minchinhampton and Painswick.
Travel along the Fosse Way from Cirencester stopping off to admire the Cotswold hotspots of Bourton-on-the-Water, Stow-on-the-Wold and Moreton-in-Marsh, taking a diversion here to take in Chipping Campden and Broadway, both home to the early 19th century Arts & Crafts movement.
