Cotswold summer events to REALLY get you excited!The Royal International Air Tattoo - 14th-16th July (Fairford)The Royal International Air Tattoo is one of the highlights of the Cotswolds social calendar. People flock from across the region and further afield for a weekend of demonstrations, with spectacular flying displays, stalls to shop from, food and drink to enjoy as well as other pursuits. There is entertainment galore to delight people of all ages, with a Techno Zone for children, Vintage Village, activity areas and more. Focused over a large area, make sure you set aside enough time to get around it all, as this is an event that you wont want to miss.Blenheim Palace Battle Proms Picnic Concert 22nd July (Woodstock)Did you know that the famous Blenheim Palace was the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill? Its now a designated World Heritage Site and a wonderful place to visit at all times of the year too. Each year, the Battle Proms take place in sight of the Column of Victory within the grounds and is a great excuse to bring a picnic blanket and a spread to enjoy a summer nights evening of music, cavalry displays and a showcase by the Red Devils. Top it off with a firework display to end the evening and give the whole family an experience they won't forget in a hurry.The Big Batsford Bug Hunt 1st-31st August (Moreton-in-Marsh)Batsford Arboretum is a great place to visit during the summer, and for children, theres the chance to take part in the Big Batsford Bug Hunt throughout August. The idea is that children explore the grounds of the arboretum by hunting for the bugs dotted all around, equipped with a map and the chance to win a prize by completing the hunt. Around Batsford youll also find a caf, gift shop and some lovely spots for picnicking perfect for making the most of hot summer weather.Wilderness Festival 3rd 6th August (Cornbury Park)If the thought of a loud and busy music festival fills you with dread, then youll enjoy the alternative and relaxed Wilderness Festival, which is dedicated to the arts. Therell be food and drink to enjoy, as well as opportunities for shopping from the hundreds of trade stands that will operate out of the Tradestand Village throughout the weekend.The Tetbury Summer & Flower Show 13th August (Tetbury)Each year, the Tetbury Summer and Flower Show takes over this classic Cotswold town to provide a day of wonderful entertainment within its beautiful surroundings. Enjoy exploring the various flower and vegetable displays on stand from local exhibitors, whilst there will be music and entertainment throughout the day. The event grows each year and therell be a fairground as well as arts and crafts, activities for children and top entertainment for all the family to enjoy.The Big Feastival 25-27th August (Alex James Farm, Kingham)The Big Feastival is one of the largest Cotswold events of the summer and is the brain child of Alex James (the farm owner) and chef Jamie Oliver. Mixing good food with excellent live music, the Big Feastival has something for everyone to enjoy. Foodies will love the choices on offer such as street food stalls, demonstrations and workshops, as well as the various vendors who will be selling their tasty treats to take home. Theres some big names on this years lineup including Olly Murs, Madness, Louisa Johnson, and Embrace, as well as some lesser known up and coming talent. Whether you visit for a day or the entire weekend, itll be an event that youll want to return to every year.Gloucester Goes Retro 26th August (Gloucester)For an event with a difference, head to Gloucester for the now famous Gloucester Goes Retro, an annual event where the city goes back in time to host various areas across different streets filled with retro goodness that will invoke nostalgia as well as offer a history lesson. Everyone gets into the spirit, from the pubs and local shops to the people who bring in their vintage cars, motorbikes and more to make the event one to remember. A fantastic day out and a cool way to explore Gloucester, be sure to visit if youre in the Cotswolds over the August Bank Holiday weekend.Outdoor Cinema at Cowley Manor until 7th September (Cheltenham)Cowley Manor provides the perfect setting for enjoying some classic films at their outdoor cinema. A circus like no other, youll be in for an evening of spectacles, tricks and wonder that people of all ages can enjoy.
